Steve Alan : Plural Musician
Steve Alan, a polymorphic musician, has built his artistic career on a diversity of talents and influences. His passion for music has flourished throughout his life, leading him to explore a variety of instruments, styles and musical disciplines.
His musical journey started with learning the classic piano bases, but he did not stop there. Steve deepened his understanding of music by studying jazz harmony and improvisation, perfecting himself in singing, and sharing his skills as choir. He also widened his musical palette by devoting himself to the violin, the drums and the djembe.
Over the past thirty years, Steve has performed on stage in various musical training, approaching a range of musical styles. His influences are just as varied, drawing from classical music, jazz, musical traditions, film music, rock, variety and sounds of the world. While interpreting these various musical forms, Steve has also ventured into the composition and arrangement of existing pieces.
In 2014, Steve crossed the borders to go to Shanghai, where he created musical compositions for a short film directed by the Calligraph artist Iris Yu Hong Hsu.
His desire to master the art of music in the image prompted him to undergo training at the CIFAP in Montreuil. This experience allowed him to acquire the skills necessary to illustrate music in the context of advertising, fictional works (television and cinema) and documentaries. He was fortunate to be formed by composers such as Arnaud de Buchy, Pascal Hautois, Alain Bédier and Didier Goret.
Steve Alan's music is a reflection of its classic origins and its stage experience, from popular balls to jazz and traditional music groups. His passion for film music is felt in his compositions, in which he deliberately leaves space for the imagination of the listener. His training at CIFAP in Montreuil was a turning point in his artistic work.
As a versatile artist, Steve composes, interpreter, records and mixes his music himself to better translate his ideas. He considers himself a musician craftsman, an imaginary creator, rather than a simple artist.
His discography is tangible proof of his commitment to music. In 2015, he released his first album entitled "Travels and Peoples," followed in 2017 by "The Five Elements." In 2019, he published "In the Eyes of A Child," composed specially for the artist Calligraph Iris Yu Hong Hsu of Shanghai. In 2022, his album "Tintinnabulle and Pulsations" was born, followed by "early spring and lotus flower" in 2023.
Currently, Steve is working on a new electro-symphonic album in which he highlights the accordion, thus defying prejudices and the negative image often associated with this instrument.
Steve Alan's music is an eclectic musical journey, a merger of various influences and an invitation to hearing exploration.
